Guilin
Located in the northeastern part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, between latitude 24 8 and 25 1 north and longitude 109 5 and 110 0 east, it covers an area of 4195 square kilometers and has a population of 1.2 million. Guilin Located in a temperature zone of subtropical climate, an average temperature is 20 with an annual rainfall of 1890 mm. Guilin is a historical and cultural city as well as a tourist wonderland of world fame. It literally means "cassia tree forest", named for the local cassia trees, whose scent wafts through the city in autumn. "Guilin boasts the most beautiful scenery under Heaven" is a saying popular among its admirers. There are green hills and fields, forests of peculiar pinnacles and the beautiful Li River winding through the city. From Guilin to Yangshuo, the river travels 83 kilometers with both shores decorated with "numerous green hills popped up out of the ground," a poetic and picturesque environment in which one cannot but feel relaxed and refreshed. The history of Guilin dates back to over 2,000 years ago. It became a town of strategic importance in south China when the first Emperor of the Qin Dynasty ordered digging a canal to link the Xiang River (which flows into the Yangtze River) and the Tan River (which flows into the Pearl River), thus connecting two of China's major waterways. The picturesque city is graced with humanistic flavor by ruins of prehistoric cultures of about 40 to 50 thousand years ago, stone tombs of the Ming Dynasty, inscriptions and sculptures on rocks scattered around in every corner of the city, and by an ancient town kept intact. Guilin is a typical karst landform area. Guilin is also a multi-national city with a population of 1.25 million of 11 ethnic groups of the Han, Zhuang, Miao, Yao, etc. The diversity in dresses and social customs of different ethnic groups offers colorful folklife and attracts large numbers of tourists from home and abroad. Guilin, now a world famous tourist city, attracts large numbers of tourists from the world over. The increasing number of tourists has promoted the rapid development of tourist facilities. Today, there are over 20 air routes connecting Guilin with Hong Kong and major domestic tourist cities. Guilin is a clean city with charming waterfront and ever-changing moods. Elepant Trunk Hill
You may visited thousands of mountains,but you may have not seen an elephant-like hill.Unbelievable?It’s called Elepant Trunk Hill,which attracts thousands of people come to visit all the year round. Elepant Trunk Hill stands majestically at the confluence of the Lijiang and Yangjiang rivers, and faces the Zi-Zhu Islet on the opposite side of the Lijiang. Arching its long trunk into the river, this seeming elephant sucks water ceaselessing, lifelike in shape and full of energy in posture. This hill resembles an elephant sucking water. The Elephant Eye Rock perches high up the hill, with a hole running through it from left to right. Between the elephant's trunk and the body is a big round hole. It's reflection in the water is the exact image of the full moon, and hence its name" water Moon Cave". On the cliff there are more than 50 pieces of carved inscriptions belong to different periods. At the moonlight night, you will feel yourself merged with the moon in the sky, the moon in the cave and the moon at the river bottom.Unbelievable?It’s so beautiful and splendid. Li River
Guilin is situated along the Lijiang River, which is a attractive in itself. The beauty of water and the Karst peaks towering into the sky have attracted travelers to this area for centuries. It’s recognized as one of the most beautiful places in China. The poetic and picturesque Li River is the important component of Guilin scenery. It originates in Mountain Cat at Xinan County in the northeast of Guilin. It winds and meanders its way for 170 kilometers, passing through Guilin, Yangshuo to the outlet of Gongchen River in Pingle County. Li River, between Guilin and Yangshuo, traverses 84 kilometers like a jade ribbon winding among thousands of the hills. Along the river, the rolling peaks, steep cliffs, green hills and clear water constitute a fascinating hundred-mile pictures gallery. Li River scenery is so famous that is known to all not only for its green hills, clear water, fantastic caves and spectacular rocks but also for its wonderful deep pools, springs and waterfalls. Moreover, people can enjoy the different beauties of Li River scenery at different seasons and weathers. In fine days, reflections of the hills in clear and greenish water are especially pleasing to the eyes, but it is more enchanting under rainy and misty weather. Yangshuo
While Guilin is a very beautiful place, many travelers simply pass though Guilin on the way to their true destination , Yangshuo. Yangshuo, a county within the prefecture of Guilin, is situated to the south of the city. It is often said that 'the hills and rivers of Guilin are the best, while Yangshuo is the best of Guilin'. The county therefore is often listed in itineraries for travelers to Guilin. What make this place especially lovely are the people. Yangshuo is home to Zhuang, Yao, Miao and eight other minority groups. Each minority group bears their own customs and traditions. The common favorite amongst all of the groups is the Song Competition. Each year, the song competition activities are held at the foot of Moon Hill on a mid-autumn day. For the competition, young people from the minority groups climb up to the hill top and sing a love song for their lovers. Yangshuo is typical of the Karst formation. The Li River provides picturesque landscapes while the river reaches Water-Dropping Villages to Yangshuo , stretching an area of 60 km . (37 miles) are the cream parts. Verdurous hills, jade rivers, peculiar caves and elegant stones present a splendid array of opportunities to visitors. Altogether there are 16 rivers and thousands of hills within the region. Moon Hill and Yulong River , the called 'Little Li River', are just two of the most enticing scenic spots in the county. The famous opera Impression on Sanjie Liu drew its inspiration from this natural landscape and sets it as the huge theatre to play the performance. Sanjie Liu is a legendary fairy from a Zhuang ethnic girl whose songs are said to be unparalleled. Climbing rocks, exploring caves, cycling along the nearby roads or just walking by the river provides an exciting experience to tourists. The county has a long history of more than 1,400 years. There are 11 nationalities living here, including Han, Zhuang, Yao , Miao and others. The exotic dress, various traditional customs and colorful festivals are most charming, especially their adept antiphonary songs and grace ful dances.So I am sure you would have a good time there.

Reed Flute Cave
There is one of the most mysterious places in Guilin which is described as "Art Palace of Nature", the stalagmite and stone flowers of grotesque shapes in the caves create breathtaking spectacles which are really a feast for the eyes. We called it Reed Flute Cave. Reed Flute Cave is located at the northwest of Guilin City, 5 kilometers away from the centre of the city, the cave is a famous scenic spot, mainly offering a magic fairyland of stalactites, stalagmites, stone columns, curtains and flowers in fantastic shapes and colours while appreciating landscape and rural scenery. Half way up the Brightness Hill, Reed Flute Cave is seven kilometers northwest of the center of Guilin. There used to be a special kind of reed growing outside of the cave which was an ideal material for making flute. Inside the U-shaped Karst cave are a large number of stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars, stone curtains, and stone flowers, all glistening in colorful lights. The length of the cave is 240 meters, whereas the whole distance of touring can last 500 meters. There are too many things for the eyes to take in. The natural beauty of a large amount of stalactites and stalagmites, with their endless variety of remarkable scenes and vistors in the cave could undoubtedly evoke breathless admiration from domestic and foreign visitors. There are more than 30 interesting sights, including " Pine in the Snow", "Mushroom Hill","Virgin Forest"…So that’s why The Reed Flute Cave is justifiably called the " Art Palace of Nature".So if you have chance to go there,you would be surprised by the unique and amazing scenery.

Terraced Field in Longji area
Terraced Field in Longji area is one of the most famous places in Guilin. It has most beautiful and unique scenery you never imagine. It is regarded as “The Most Amazing Terraced Field “in the world, so thousands of tourists came to visit it every day. The Longji Terraces are located in Longsheng County, and it’s about 2 hours from Guilin. The rice terraces are built into the hillsides. The terraces look like great chains or ribbons as they wind from the foot to the top of the hill. This ingenious construction makes best use of the scare arable land and water resources in the mountainous area. There are about 66 square kilometers terraced fields in southeast of Longsheng.The Terraces were first built in the Yuan dynasty and completed in the Qing dynasty by the Zhuang people. So you can see it has a very long history. Terraced Field in Longji area is so special that you can enjoy different landscape in the four seasons all the year round. In spring, you can see the Terraced Field is just like a sliver mountain. In summer, the Terraced Field puts on the green clothes. In autumn, it’s just like the pyramid, shinning and dazzling with brilliance. In winter, it changes his clothes into white one, so amazing and splendid.
