Superstitious? Things To Remember For New Year’s Hong Kong Tours
With the New Year right around the corner, now’s the time to plan a special trip to ring in 2011. And one of the most spectacular places to celebrate this special is in Hong Kong. A tour of Hong Kong for New Year’s puts you smack dab in the middle of one of the biggest celebrations on the planet in one of the most enjoyable to visit. And just like most holidays in other parts of the world, New Year’s in Hong Kong brings with it some traditions:

• The Chinese believe that New Year’s is the time to determine your luck for the upcoming year. The best way to ensure luck and prosperity for the upcoming year? Being dirty. According to the Chinese, cleaning and sweeping will take all of your good luck out the door with your dirt.

• Don’t buy shoes over the holiday season. “Shoe” is a homonym for “rough”, so it’s bad luck to purchase shoes to close to the holiday season.

• Books are the same way. “Book” is a homonym for “lose”, so buying a book during the holiday season is also considered to be bad luck.

• If you had planned on capping your Hong Kong tour off with a camping trip, feel free to do so. However, make sure to hold off on those ghost stories while sitting around the campfire. Tales of death, dying and ghosts is considered to be bad luck at all times, especially during the Chinese New Year.

• What’s your favorite color? Chinese New Year is known for containing the color red, as it’s considered extremely lucky for anyone wearing it.

• Having a sweet tooth may finally pay off for some of us as it’s considered lucky to eat sweets during Chinese New Year. Indulging in some sugary delights is said to bring a promise of a sweet year.

• Fresh air is said to bring some good luck with it in the New Year, so make sure to open the windows during your Hong Kong trip in order to usher in some good luck during your vacation.

• In case you needed a reminder, avoid sharp objects during your New Year’s celebration while on your vacation in Hong Kong. The presence of these objects is said to cut out the good luck. This includes avoiding hairdressers as it’s believed that they can chop your good luck off.

None of this should deter you from embarking on a tour of Hong Kong to celebrate the New Year. Make sure to book your tour today and get started on the best Asia vacation you’ve ever taken with AsiaImpressions!
