16-Day China Highlights with The Roof of the World

Please note that order of day-to-day itinerary is adjustable depending on tour start day.
Day 1 Arrive in Beijing

Arriving in Beijing, the tour guide would be welcome you at the airport.The rest of the day is free to rest to recover from jetlag or to explore by yourself.Then enjoy the delicious dinner we prepared for you(D).

Day 2 Beijing

After breakfast, you will visit the Forbidden city which was the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is the world's largest palace complex and covers 74 hectares. Surrounded by a six meter deep moat and a ten meter high wall are 9,999 rooms. Then, you will go to the royal residence of the Ming and qing dynasties-- Tiananmen Square. The Tiananmen Gate Tower sites at the north, the Five-Star Red Flag flies high on the square, the Monument to the People's Heroes dominates the center, the Great Hall of the People and the Museum of the Chinese Revolution and the Museum of Chinese History to the east and west of it, as well as The Chairman Mao Memorial Hall and the Qianmen gate, sit in the south of the square.The next stop is the Pearl store and the Summer Palace, which is the best-preserved imperial garden in China(B,L,D).

Day 3 Beijing

After breakfast, you will take coach to Badaling Great Wall (without round way cable car) which looks like a gigantic dragon, the Great Wall winds up and down across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus, stretching approximately 8,851.8 kilometers (5,500 miles) from east to west of China. With a history of more than 2000 years, some of the sections are now in ruins or have disappeared then go to a Jade factory. The Next stop is Temple of Heaven. The Temple of Heaven is seen as the most holy of Beijing's imperial temples. It has been described as "a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design". And it was where the emperor came every winter solstice to worship Heaven and to solemnly pray for a good harvest(B,L,D).

Day 4 Beijing to Xi'an

After breakfast, you will enjoy the Hutong Tour. Hutong culture is Beijing’s unique cultural characteristic. The deep and twisting Hutong, also the fragrant Siheyuan will impress you a lot. And then, you will fly to Xi'an(B,L,D).

Day 5 Xi'an

After breakfast, you will visit the Terracotta Warriors, the Terracotta Warriors factory and the Big Wild Pagoda.  Terracotta Warriors locates in Lintong county, 1500 meters from the east of Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum. It is a vast underground military museum, known as the eighth wonder of the world. After visiting The Terracotta Warriors factory, the technology center for terracotta warriors sale, you will arrive the next stop--the Big Wild Pagoda. It is the most famous and magnificent buddhist temple of Changan city in Tang dynasty(B,L,D).

Day 6 Xi'an

After breakfast, you will go to the first stop--Shanxi Museum. It is a national comprehensive museum with a long history. Then move to the Ancient City Wall (without the bicycle),  which located in the central area of Xi'an and was built on the basis of the imperial Chang'an City in the early Ming dynasty.  Next stop is the Gorest of Stele Museum(B,L,D).

Day 7 Xi'an to Lhasa

After breakfast, you will fly to Lhasa. And then you will have a rest time as you leisure(B,L).

Day 8 Lhasa

After breakfast, you will visit the Potala Palace, a distinctive Tibetan style palace built on mountains. Since 17th Century, the Potala Palace has become the residence for  previous Dalai Lama. Then you will go to Norbulingka--Tibet’s Summer Palace and the Jokhang Temple-- the spiritual center of Tibet. Last, move to the Bakhor Street, also named as Baghor, is the oldest street in Lhasa. In the past, it was only a circumambulation circuit, "a saint road " in the eyes of Tibetan. Now it's also a shopping center with nation characteristics(B).

Day 9 Lhasa

After breakfast, you will visit the Drepung Monastery, one of the three major monasteries in Lhasa and China's largest monastery of Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Later you will go to Sera Monastery, which is located in the northern suburb of Lhasa City and is  the last of the three principal Gelupka(B).

Day 10 Lhasa to Chongqing

After breakfast, you will fly to Chongqing. Chongqing is one of the four municipalities of the PRC, located in southwest China After arrival, you will have a rest time as your leisure(B,L,D).

Day 11 Yangtze Rriver Cruise

After breakfast, you will visit the Panda Room in Chongqing Zoo, located in the western suburbs of the city. Then, Ciqikou Old Town, a famous China attraction for its porcelain during the Ming and Qing, the three notable attractions of the village are the tea bars, the artists' studios and the Shu Embroidery workshops. After that you will move to the Three Gorges Museum- which is granted as national first-grade museum. The last stop is Chongqing National Institute Gallery(B,L,D).

Day 12 Yangtze Rriver Cruise

After breakfast, you will visit the Fengdu Ghost City. It is 170 km from the east of Chongqing and on the north bank of the river with a history of 1,900 years. Fengdu is also called the" City of Ghosts" , it is a treasure house of local customs, culture and art, Taoist and Buddhist cultures(B,L,D).

Day 13 Yangtze Rriver Cruise

After breakfast, you will visit the Three Gorges. The Three Gorges area is on the Changjiang River, stretched from Fengjie of Sichuan Province east to Yichang of Hubei Province, a total of 193 km.The river winds its way through countless valleys, around steep peaks, over crucial rapids and whirlpools. It looks like a picturesque corridor, presenting changing scenery all the way(B,L,D).

Day 14 Yichang to Shanghai

After breakfast, you will have a shore excursion to the Three Gorges Dam, which is constructed at a place called Sandouping in the middle of the Xiling Gorge. After arrival Yichang, you will coach to the Yichang Airport to fly to Shanghai(B,L,D).

Day 15 Shanghai

After breakfast, you will visit the Yu Garden, The pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters in Yuyuan Garden all have unique characteristics and the true treasure of Yuyuan Garden is the Exquisite Jade Rock. Then you will get to the Oriental Pearl Tower (the second ball). It is located in Pudong Park in Lujiazui, Shanghai. The tower, surrounded by the Yangpu Bridge in the northeast and the Nanpu Bridge in the southwest, creates a picture of 'twin dragons playing with pearls'. The entire scene is a photographic jewel that excites the imagination and attracts thousands of visitors year-round. Next is the Shanghai Museum, a large art museum with a collection of 120 000 precious relics. The last stop is Silk Factory. After that you can enjoy the Huangpu River Cruise in the evening(B,L,D).

Day 16 Depart from Shanghai

Your time is your own, until you are ready to be transferred to the airport for your departure(Flight not included)(B).
